Position: Director of Finance

Location: Flint, MI

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy & Oversight: Lead the Finance Department, overseeing all aspects of accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP). Conduct regular aging report reviews and collaborate with accounting support to resolve outstanding issues.

  • Revenue Cycle Management: Coordinate with external billing departments to establish rate structures, resolve authorization hurdles, and manage monthly billing reconciliation.

  • Reporting & Compliance: Prepare comprehensive monthly financial statements and quarterly reports for government regulatory agencies. Facilitate annual external audits and conduct internal financial audits across multiple site locations.

  • Budgetary Control: Lead the annual budget preparation process and execute monthly variance analyses to ensure fiscal health and operational efficiency.

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Provide high-level mentorship and operational oversight to a designated group of healthcare  facilities. Foster leadership development and ensure excellence in service delivery.

  • Site Management: Conduct weekly site visits to monitor performance, review local operations, and provide direct guidance to frontline staff and support teams.

  • Executive Collaboration: Maintain transparent communication with the executive leadership team (CEO/COO) regarding financial health, billing concerns, and departmental milestones.

  • Administrative Systems: Manage payroll processing via secure wire transfers and oversee HRIS/payroll platform user administration, including system updates and archiving.

  • Policy & Training: Develop and implement new organizational policies and software updates. Ensure all staff members are trained on modified protocols to maintain compliance.

  • Performance Management: Deliver documented coaching and constructive feedback to support staff to address performance gaps and drive continuous improvement.

  • Advocacy & Ethics: Act as a primary advocate for patient  rights and maintain strict adherence to all confidentiality protocols, including HIPAA and internal privacy agreements.

  • Operational Flexibility: Participate in leadership retreats, conferences, and daily support meetings. Maintain the flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required by the demands of the healthcare environment.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related business discipline is required.

  • Professional Certification: Active CPA licensure is highly desirable, though candidates with equivalent advanced professional standing will be considered.

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience utilizing industry-standard cloud-based accounting platforms and financial management software.

  • Soft Skills: Superior interpersonal abilities with a proven track record of maintaining productive relationships across various organizational levels.

  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial data for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Operational Stamina: Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and composure while operating in a fast-paced environment with rigorous deadline constraints.

  • Organizational Excellence: Advanced time-management and prioritization skills, with an emphasis on self-directed workflow management.
