Programmable Machine Operator (1st Shift)

Job Summary

As a Programmable Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of Kiefel thermoforming machinery. You will ensure production stays on schedule by making technical adjustments, performing quality inspections, and maintaining rigorous safety and documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation: Perform startup, changeovers, and shutdowns. Monitor control panels to detect malfunctions and adjust parameters within engineering-approved ranges to maximize yield.

  • Technical Setup: Review work orders, blueprints, and setup instructions. Edit machine programs and enter commands to achieve precise dimensional specifications.

  • Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments to verify workpiece dimensions. Inspect finished products for adherence to customer specifications and the company's Quality Management System.

  • Maintenance & Safety: Maintain clean, functional work areas and tools. Regularly verify the functionality of all safety equipment.

  • Training & Collaboration: Assist in developing training programs, assess the skill levels of incoming operators, and collaborate with engineering to establish production parameters.

  • Documentation: Utilize ERP software to accurately log production times, quantities, and material usage.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Certification:  You will be trained on company's apprenticeship program 

  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with materials (PVC, PETG, RPET, APET, HIPS) and specialized equipment (KMB 60, 78-1, Stackers, Strippers, Clamp Plates, etc.).

  • Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, basic mathematics (arithmetic/geometry), and the ability to read technical blueprints.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.

  • Capable of repetitive motions including bending, stooping, and reaching.

  • Ability to stand for the majority of the shift.
