Position Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides strategic and operational leadership for a growing non-profit organization in Genesee County, Michigan. Reporting to the Co-Chief Executive Officers, this role oversees daily operations, builds scalable systems, and ensures organizational effectiveness, financial stewardship, and mission alignment.
The COO will translate strategy into execution, drive performance across departments, and foster a high-impact, collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities

Lead all operational functions including programs, administration, technology, and service delivery

Implement systems and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability

Partner with executive leadership to execute strategic and operational plans

Manage and develop teams, supporting recruitment, performance, and professional growth

Oversee budgets and operational financial performance in collaboration with finance leadership

Ensure compliance, risk management, and strong internal controls

Use data and technology to improve workflows, reporting, and outcomes

Serve as a key liaison with leadership, partners, and board stakeholders
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)

10+ years of operational leadership experience, including senior or executive-level responsibility

Proven ability to manage complex, multi-department operations

Strong financial, analytical, and organizational skills

Experience implementing technology systems and process improvements

Excellent communication and leadership abilities
