Title Insurance License & Compliance Manager, Southfield, MI

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Title Insurance License & Compliance Manager. This team member will be responsible for ensuring that all title insurance operations comply with applicable local, state, federal laws and regulations, and agreements which the Company and its affiliates are parties to or bond by. This team member will be responsible for applying for and maintaining licenses for the Company and its affiliates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date on relevant industry regulations and ensure that the company adheres to all local, state, and federal laws regarding title insurance, and all agreements which the Company and its affiliates are parties to or bond by.

Policy and Procedure Development: Assist in developing and updating company policies and procedures to maintain compliance with the ever-changing legal and regulatory landscape.

Internal Audits & Reviews: Conduct periodic internal audits to identify potential compliance risks or deficiencies. Monitor and review transactions, documentation, and operational processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards

Training & Education: Train and educate staff on compliance matters, including regulatory updates, internal policies, and best practices.

Reporting: Prepare and submit necessary compliance reports, audit results, and corrective action plans to management.

Collaboration: Work with legal, underwriting, and operations teams to ensure the organization’s processes are compliant and support overall business goals.

External Communication: Interact with regulatory agencies, counterparties, attorneys, and other third parties to address compliance-related inquiries and issues.

Licensing Administration: Manage the process of obtaining and renewing title insurance licenses for agents, agencies, and related personnel across various jurisdictions. Ensure that all required documentation and forms are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.

Regulatory Licensing Compliance: Ensure compliance with state-specific and federal title insurance licensing laws and regulations. Stay up to date with changes in licensing laws and advise management of any necessary adjustments to procedures.

License Tracking & Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized records of all licenses, renewals, and related documentation. Monitor expiration dates and proactively manage the renewal process to avoid lapses in licensure. Update internal company licensing maps and make sure marketing materials that include license information are always current.

Collaboration with Authorities: Serve as the primary point of contact with state insurance departments, regulatory bodies, and other relevant agencies for licensing-related inquiries, filings, and approvals.

Agency administration: Work with Underwriters to secure agency agreements for each state licensed. Document all agency agreements in company tracker and communicate terms to the team to ensure proper setup in SoftPro.

Contract administration: Ensure that the Company and its affiliates are in compliance with all contracts to which they are a party.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Legal Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred but not mandatory.

·    Preferred Experience: Prefer at least 2-3 years of experience in title insurance, licensing, or a related field, with a focus on regulatory compliance and licensing processes.

·         Paralegal experience/background a strong plus!
