Junior Estimator

Overview

A well-established construction contractor in the heavy civil space focusing in utilities, piping, water/wastewater, etc. is seeking a Junior Estimator to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering or construction management and experience supporting the preparation of accurate, competitive project estimates. This is a full-time opportunity with a company that values quality, teamwork, and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential project opportunities and obtain relevant plans and specifications.

  • Assist in the selection of jobs to bid, including analyzing project documents, scopes, manpower and equipment needs, methods of construction, and schedule requirements.

  • Conduct pre-bid investigations to evaluate site conditions and other relevant factors.

  • Prepare bid documents, including ordering bonds and ensuring timely bid submissions.

  • Review and clarify plan and specification discrepancies with engineers or relevant stakeholders.

  • Code awarded jobs for accounting and distribute all relevant information to project managers and field supervision.

  • Draft purchase orders and subcontracts for major items when needed.

  • Support the resolution of questions on quotations regarding terms, delivery, inclusions, and exclusions.

  • Maintain records and data for accurate takeoffs and pricing of estimates.

  • When required, perform duties typically assigned to a project engineer to support project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • 2–6 years of equivalent experience in estimating or project management, or entry-level with relevant internship or areas of study in college.

  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience. $70 - $95K, negotiable. Relocation pay available.
