We’re looking for a motivated, growth-oriented professional to join our team as a Quality Engineer here in Elkhart, IN. 

The Quality Engineer serves as a technical expert supporting Operations and Engineering in the design and launch of new products. This role also leads root-cause investigations for internal production issues and customer-reported concerns.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Product Launch Support — Assist with APQP activities and introduction of new products.

  • Process Documentation — Develop and review FMEAs, Control Plans, and work instructions.

  • Quality Coaching — Mentor team members in statistics, SPC, and root cause analysis.

  • Testing Oversight — Ensure testing methods are properly executed and evaluated.

  • Performance Review — Identify anomalies and collaborate with cross-functional teams on resolutions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration — Partner with Operations and Engineering to maintain supply and support new product launches.

  • Manufacturing Process Knowledge — Ideal candidates will understand injection molding, stamping, and light assembly.

  • Metrology & Tooling — Analyze measurement data and recommend tooling adjustments.

  • Supplier Quality — Review and approve supplier PPAPs per AIAG standards.

  • Root Cause Investigations — Lead customer-related investigations and corrective actions.

  • Quality Requirements — Establish quality metrics for internal teams and suppliers.

  • Component Issue Resolution — Investigate and resolve quality issues; travel to suppliers/customers as needed.

  • Testing Coordination — Coordinate testing to determine the scope and cause of issues.

  • Corrective Action Management — Create customer CARs and review supplier CARs.

  • Measurement Expertise — Serve as an internal expert in GR&R, capability analysis, and measurement methods.

  • GD&T Support — Support proper GD&T and tolerance methodology.

  • Standards Verification — Verify compliance with FMVSS, ECE, ISO, and SAE testing requirements.

Quality Management System

  • Support ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 implementation and maintenance.

  • Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Track and improve Cost of Quality and Cost of Poor Quality across sites.
     

Skills & Abilities

  • Automotive industry experience preferred, especially with OEM customer relationships.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).

  • Analytical mindset with strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.

  • Ability to make timely, data-driven decisions.

  • Proficiency in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and structured problem solving.

  • Experience in manufacturing and/or tooling design.

  • Background in QMS and system audits.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.

  • Strong metrology, GD&T, and measurement methodology skills.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related technical field.

  • Minimum 3 years of Quality Assurance experience.

  • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.

  • Experience working with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams functional teams.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
