Lead Enterprise Platform Architecture for a Major Federal Travel Modernization Initiative

We are seeking a seasoned ServiceNow Architect to guide the technical design and deployment of an enterprise-wide travel and expense (T&E) managed service supporting civilian employees across 120+ federal agencies. As the 3rd generation of this flagship program, this initiative modernizes federal travel and expense management infrastructure for the next 15 years.

In this role, you will serve as the primary platform authority—owning end-to-end architectural design, leading complex custom integrations, enforcing security models, and mentoring development and business process teams. If you thrive in high-impact environments, navigate ambiguity with confidence, and excel at translating intricate operational mandates into robust technical frameworks, this position offers high-visibility leadership on a critical enterprise program.

What You’ll Do

Drive End-to-End Platform Design: Own the overarching platform architecture, leading implementation best practices across core modules, custom applications, and scoped apps.
Architect Secure Integrations: Design and implement robust inbound and outbound integration patterns using scripted REST APIs, IntegrationHub, mTLS, and custom certificate/keystore management.
Enforce Data Security & Governance: Establish granular role-based access controls (RBAC/ACL), data models, knowledge/user criteria access rules, and Service Portal governance.
Deliver Advanced Custom Workflows: Build scalable server-side and client-side solutions leveraging Flow Designer, Script Includes, Business Rules, and advanced scripting.
Guide & Mentor Delivery Teams: Partner closely with developers, business process consultants, and program leads to establish technical standards, conduct design reviews, and ensure successful deployment.

What You’ll Bring (Requirements)

Senior ServiceNow Architectural Expertise: Proven track record with end-to-end platform design ownership and hands-on delivery on complex, large-scale enterprise deployments.
Integration & Security Mastery: Deep experience designing scripted REST APIs, managing mTLS authentication, handling security certificates/keystores, and implementing scoped application security.
Core Technical Stack Proficiency: Advanced expertise in Flow Designer, Script Includes, RBAC/ACL models, Service Portal customization, and custom application architecture.
Federal Delivery Exposure: Solid understanding of federal compliance frameworks, including FedRAMP controls, Section 508 accessibility standards, and CUI data handling requirements.
Work Authorization & Security Eligibility: Must be a US Person located within CONUS and eligible to obtain a Public Trust / MBI clearance.
Communication & Adaptability: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage time effectively and resolve complex ambiguity.
