Your First Assignment

In this role, your first assignment is to build the backend that powers the processing of filer applications. You will build the services and secure application programming interfaces (APIs) that move each submission through document processing, validation, and decisioning. The work is real, highly challenging, and directly impacts the public.

(Note: This is just where you start. As the firm grows, you will help spin up new capabilities, tools, and lines of business.)

What You'll Build

• Fast, Secure Automations: You will develop backend services and REST APIs in Python and FastAPI to turn manual, document-heavy processes into fast, secure, and automated systems.

• Cloud Infrastructure: You will build the cloud architecture behind these services on Amazon Web Services (AWS), leveraging Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, and S3.

• Data & Identity: You will handle data and identity management the right way using PostgreSQL.

You have successfully built backends and APIs that hold up in production, and you move at the speed of your tools, not the clock. You love to experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly. What You Bring to the Table (Requirements)

• Clearance: Sole United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination are strictly required for this initial engagement.

• Location: This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, requiring regular commutes into DC.

• Core Technical Skills: Strong Python proficiency and hands-on experience building secure REST APIs (using FastAPI or similar frameworks) on AWS.

• Backend Fundamentals: Deep understanding of PostgreSQL, authentication, access control, and clean, automated delivery pipelines.

• Security Judgment: The judgment and maturity to build in a highly regulated federal environment where security and auditability are never optional.

• (Note: Rather than demanding arbitrary years of experience or a rigid list of certifications upfront, the hiring team focuses on your capabilities, which will be explored deeply during the application and interview process.)

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $92,000 to $133,000 per year.
