Client offers a unique opportunity for a Senior Vice President of Business Development to join our New York office. This high-impact role reports directly to the Executive Vice President of Business Development and plays a critical role in shaping the future of our wholesale trading partnerships.
The Business Development team at Client holds significant decision-making authority and strategic influence. This team drives initiatives to elevate our corporate profile, deepen agency relationships, and accelerate growth across key trading partnerships.
About the Role: SVP, Wholesale Business Development
This strategic leadership role is responsible for expanding and strengthening Client’s presence in the E&S market through meaningful broker relationships and focused business development efforts. The ideal candidate will combine strong industry visibility, executive presence, and a track record of driving financial and strategic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
· Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with leadership teams of Client’s largest wholesale trading partners to align with their growth strategies.
· Develop and manage an executive governance calendar involving Client business leaders and key wholesale brokers.
· Lead Client’s presence at major industry events throughout the year (e.g., WSIA, Target Markets, PLUS, etc.), in partnership with our E&S leadership.
· Drive production growth and strategic outcomes with wholesale broker partners.
· Develop and implement the Wholesale Business Development Plan across all Client business units and products (Property, Casualty, Financial, and Specialty Lines).
· Generate and share regular reports with leadership on trading insights, market trends, and strategic opportunities.
· Identify and pursue new business opportunities—single risk, book rolls, or regional strategies—that may not be captured through day-to-day underwriting.
· Provide ongoing feedback to senior leadership regarding local market conditions, broker strategies, competitor activity, and evolving client trends.
What You’ll Bring
· Minimum 15+ years of insurance industry experience spanning underwriting, product development, risk management, distribution strategy, and client relationship management.
· Well-established reputation and visibility within the wholesale broker community.
· Deep understanding of the E&S market and wholesale distribution strategies.
· Strong presentation, negotiation, and persuasive selling skills.
· Familiarity with how independent agencies operate and how to effectively engage with them.
· Highly motivated self-starter with a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and follow-through.
· Confident communicator with a professional demeanor and ability to lead complex conversations.
· Strong organizational skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Salary Range: $225,000 – $280,000
