A leading global real estate asset manager with over $60 billion in AUM is seeking a Property Accountant to join its Dallas‑based accounting team. This role supports a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate assets and is responsible for full‑cycle property‑level accounting, financial reporting, and operational support. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, institutional real estate environment.
This position follows a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote).
 
Key Responsibilities
Property-Level Accounting & Reporting
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual property‑level financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely posting of all property‑related transactions.
• Perform bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable processing, and accrual entries.
• Review and reconcile CAM, tax, insurance, and operating expense schedules.
• Track a
nd record capital expenditures, tenant improvements, and leasing commissions.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Variance Analysis
• Assist in preparing annual operating budgets and reforecasts for assigned properties.
• Conduct monthly variance analysis comparing actuals to budget, explaining key drivers and trends.
• Partner with property management teams to ensure accurate financial planning and reporting.
Audit & Compliance
• Support internal and external audit requests, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records for all assigned assets.
Operation
al Support & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with property managers, asset managers, and leasing teams to ensure financial accuracy and operational alignment.
• Assist with tenant ledger reviews, rent roll updates, and lease abstracting as needed.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis for senior leadership.
 
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–5+ years of property accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, property‑level financial reporting, and real estate accounting concepts.
• Experience with real estate accounting systems (Yardi, MRI, JDE, or similar) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• High attention to detail, strong ownership mentality, and a collaborative working style.
