Business Systems Analyst – Financial & Trading Systems (Metals/Commodities)
Location: Hybrid  Travel: <10% International
Type: Full‑Time
A growing global trading organization is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support and enhance its financial, trading, and reporting systems. This role sits at the center of accounting, operations, and trading, ensuring the business gets maximum value from its technology stack. Ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys solving real business problems through smart system design.
 
What You’ll Do
• Partner with accounting, operations, and trading teams to understand requirements and deliver effective system solutions
• Configure, update, test, and support financial systems across the full application
lifecycle
• Build and maintain proprietary reports and analytics for finance, controllers, physical operations, and trading
• Develop and troubleshoot SQL queries, Business Objects reports, and BI outputs
• Perform root‑cause analysis and resolve system issues in collaboration with users and vendors
• Document configurations, workflows, and solutions in the internal knowledge base
• Work closely with a collaborative IS team across the US and Europe
• Stay current on relevant technologies through training and certifications
• Travel internationally as needed (typically <5–10%)
 
What You Bring
• 5+ years of experience in a corporate IT or business systems role
• Hands‑on experience with mid‑ to large‑scale ERP or financial systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Sage, etc.)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles
• Solid SQL skills
• Experience with Business Objects or similar BI/reporting tools
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros)
• Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing/project tools
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with distributed teams across multiple regions
• Strong stakeholder management skills (accounting, commercial, vendors)
• Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate
 
Nice to Have
• Experience with UNIT4/Coda
• Exposure to CTRM (Commodity Trading & Risk Management) systems
• VB/VBA, Power BI, or web services experience
• Advanced Excel automation
