Accounts Receivable & Collections Specialist 

Location: Schaumburg / Northwest Suburbs, IL
Salary: $44,000–$59,000 annually

Six Degrees Search is recruiting for an established company seeking an Accounts Receivable & Customer Account Specialist to join its accounting and credit operations team in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

This position involves supporting commercial customer accounts, maintaining accurate billing and credit documentation, researching payment issues, and working with internal teams to resolve accounts receivable matters.

Responsibilities

• Maintain commercial customer accounts and assist with day-to-day accounts receivable activities.

• Research billing discrepancies, payment issues, and customer account adjustments.

• Prepare, review, and maintain lien waivers, tax exemption certificates, and other customer documentation.

• Assist with customer deposits, payment application, and account reconciliation.

• Respond to customer requests for invoices, statements, payment information, and supporting documentation.

• Work closely with credit, accounting, collections, and sales teams to resolve account issues.

• Maintain accurate customer account records and supporting documentation.

• Assist with routine reporting and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts receivable, billing, credit support, or related accounting functions.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.

• Ability to research discrepancies and communicate effectively with customers and internal departments.

• Experience working with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.

• Familiarity with lien waivers, customer deposits, or tax exemption certificates is a plus.

• Experience in distribution, manufacturing, construction, or other commercial business environments is helpful.
