Industrial Process Safety Engineer/Consultant

Location: Remote

Compensation: $120,000-$150,000 base salary

The company is a growing engineering consulting firm that helps industrial and manufacturing clients identify and manage combustible dust, chemical process, hazardous materials, fire, and explosion risks. The company is adding capacity to meet sustained demand and support a broader mix of projects and clients. Start timing is flexible.

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, such as chemical, fire protection, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in chemical or mechanical process design, combustible dust hazard analysis, explosion protection, process safety, or industrial risk consulting across industrial or manufacturing facilities.
• Strong combustible dust expertise, including experience leading or reviewing Dust Hazard Analyses; working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards, including NFPA 660 and the legacy commodity-specific standards, is strongly preferred.
• Ability to evaluate chemical inventories, safety data sheets, material test reports, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, control narratives, and engineering drawings to identify hazards and assess safeguards.
• Experience developing practical fire and explosion mitigation strategies involving venting, suppression, isolation, containment, detection, administrative controls, or electrical area classification.
• Ability to interpret building codes, fire prevention codes, and nationally recognized standards; develop alternative methods or equivalencies; and work effectively with authorities, insurers, vendors, and contractors.
• Demonstrated ability to lead client engagements, communicate defensible technical recommendations, balance risk reduction with cost and operational needs, and manage multiple projects within scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
• Experience reviewing technical deliverables and mentoring less experienced engineers or consultants; excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Professional Engineer licensure is preferred. Candidates with a PE license may hold the Engineer title; candidates without a PE license may hold the Consultant title.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and travel approximately 5-25% to industrial client sites for field assessments, surveys, inspections, testing, and project meetings; authorization to work in the United States is required.
