Business Contact (BC) / Operations Manager
Job Description
We are a growing FedEx Ground Independent Service Provider (ISP) seeking an experienced Business Contact (BC) / Operations Manager to lead our Huntsville, AL operation.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a proven FedEx operator who knows how to run daily dispatch, manage drivers, oversee fleet operations, and maintain strong relationships with FedEx station leadership. The right candidate will have direct experience in FedEx Ground operations and be ready to take full ownership of performance, safety, and service.
If you have successfully managed FedEx routes, drivers, and daily terminal operations, this role offers long-term stability and growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily dispatch operations, ensuring all routes are covered and executed on time.
- Oversee morning launch, route assignments, and end-of-day closeout.
- Supervise and lead a team of delivery drivers, lead drivers, and support staff.
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings / safety huddles.
- Monitor and manage service performance, scan compliance, and delivery completion.
- Handle real-time operational issues including call-outs, breakdowns, late freight, and volume spikes.
- Enforce attendance, punctuality, uniform standards, and driver performance.
- Coach, train, and develop drivers to improve safety and productivity.
- Handle disciplinary actions, write-ups, and terminations when required
- Ensure full compliance with FedEx Ground policies, procedures, and contractor standards.
- Enforce all safety procedures, DVIRs, accident reporting, and corrective actions.
- Conduct ride-alongs, observations, and safety audits.
- Oversee daily readiness of the fleet (step vans, P1200/P1000, etc.).
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with vendors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with FedEx station leadership.
- Attend contractor meetings, service calls, and performance reviews.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of drivers.
- Maintain accurate reports, documentation, and records for operations and compliance.
Requirements
- 2+ years of FedEx Ground operations experience – REQUIRED.
- Experience as a BC, Operations Manager, Senior Ops Admin, Lead Driver, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of FedEx policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Proven experience managing drivers, routes, and dispatch operations.
- Experience overseeing a fleet of delivery vehicles / step vans.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
- Comfortable handling difficult conversations, discipline, and performance management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Business Contact (BC) for FedEx.
- Experience launching or scaling FedEx routes.
- Knowledge of FRO, CSA, DOT, and FedEx safety requirements.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
