SENIOR COUNSEL ATTORNEY - FUND SERVICES
Locations: Boston, MA | New York, NY | Washington, D.C.
A leading AmLaw 50 global law firm is seeking a talented Senior Counsel Attorney to join its premier Fund Services Practice Group. This role offers a rare opportunity to lead engagements for top-tier venture capital and growth equity clients across the full fund life cycle. The ideal attorney brings deep fund formation experience, sophisticated regulatory knowledge, and a passion for advising both sponsors and institutional investors.
Candidate Profile
- JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
- Active Bar Admission in the relevant jurisdiction, in good standing
- 8+ years of substantive fund formation experience working with sponsors
- Strong background handling structuring, formation, and operation of investment funds
- Significant experience advising on the Securities Act, Exchange Act, Investment Company Act, and Investment Advisers Act
- Substantial experience representing institutional investors in private investment funds
- Demonstrated ability to advise on legal, regulatory, and compliance considerations across complex fund activities
- Prior experience at a national or international law firm of comparable rank
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-directed, collaborative, and committed to outstanding client service
Key Responsibilities
- Lead fund formation matters for venture capital and growth equity sponsors
- Advise clients on fund structuring, regulatory strategy, operational matters, and compliance frameworks
- Represent institutional investors in private fund investments and ongoing program needs
- Serve as a trusted counselor on sensitive governance, regulatory, and transactional issues
- Collaborate closely with cross-office colleagues to support a globally-integrated fund services practice
- Mentor junior team members and help strengthen the group’s knowledge base and best practices
