Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, execution, and review of life cycle assessments for products, services, and company operations.
- Ensure accurate data collection and methodology consistent with current best practices and regulatory / industry standards.
- Translate complex LCA findings into clear, compelling narratives for marketing, external reports, customer communications, and brand positioning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, operations, sustainability, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure integrity, alignment, and usability of LCA data.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging methodologies, regulations, and certification frameworks relevant to LCA and environmental impact.
- Serve as subject matter expert in environmental impact, carbon accounting, and sustainability metrics. Provide guidance, training, and support to internal stakeholders.
- Support external engagements (e.g. certifications, audits, partner inquiries, investor ESG requirements) with rigorous LCA-based insights.
- Contribute thought leadership via whitepapers, presentations, and other public communication channels to reinforce company's mission of sustainable innovation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Master’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainable Systems, Life Cycle Assessment, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience conducting LCAs across multiple industries or product categories.
- Strong familiarity with ISO 14040/44 standards, carbon accounting methodologies, greenhouse gas inventory protocols, and sustainability reporting frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to work with quantitative data: modelling, data interpretation, life cycle inventory / impact assessment tools.
- Excellent communication skills: able to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven leadership experience: managing projects, influencing cross-functional teams, and shaping strategy around sustainability and environmental metrics.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience with LCA software tools such as SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA, or equivalent.
- Prior experience working closely with marketing, communications, or brand teams to incorporate sustainability / environmental messaging.
- Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD) and regulatory disclosure requirements.
- Experience with external audits, certifications, or third-party verifications (e.g. cradle-to-gate, cradle-to-grave assessments).
- Strong publication record, speaking engagements, or proven thought leadership in sustainability, climate science, or circular economy.
