SUMMARY:

The Principle Process/Project Engineer will work on troubleshoot, solve complex processes, and improve chemical process operation.  The work done on these tasks may be performed individually or as part of a team. The Principle Process/Project engineer will also work with other senior members of Floquip leadership team to improve the overall quality of engineering, bid packages, and technical knowledge in the department. In certain instance the Principle Process/Project Engineer may be responsible for leading large groups of multidiscipline engineers to ensure the desire results. This person will need to develop and maintain relationships within operations, maintenance, R&D, and engineer to be considered a technical expert and a SME in select technical operations. These tasks may be performed individually or as part of a team. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop new procedures and standards to improve knowledge transfer and reduce gaps in process understanding
  • Guide, support and lead junior engineers to enhance their technical knowledge
  • Analyze and review process design, material and energy balances, and equipment, piping, and valves specification as needed for new and unique projects.
  • Develop and review process design packages (including heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, equipment sizing, and material selection) for designated projects
  • Create and evaluate control strategies and narratives to ensure effective process control and optimization.
  • Engage in PHA and HAZOP sessions, working with Safety and Environmental teams to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on specific technical items, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise on continuous and batch processes as needed.\
  • Participate in the design and review of engineering projects, providing expert input to ensure design meets business requirement
  • Collaborate with Operations and R&D teams to troubleshoot complex process design issues and developing practical solutions to process-related problems.
  • Continuously develop and expand process knowledge for multiple processes, incorporating new ideas into current and future designs.
  • Stay up-to-date on the newest technological advancements and work towards integrating innovative solutions into designs, balancing cost and functionality.
  • Present and advocate for new ideas in front of senior management, driving innovation and improvement.
  • Provide specific technical expertise to support special projects, pilot operations, and process improvements

 

REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering).
· 15+ years of related experience in engineering design of chemical plants, including hands-on troubleshooting experience.
· Experience in RMP and PSM environments
· Knowledge of relevant codes, equipment, and best practices used in the chemical industry.
· Strong communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills, including ability to concisely / effectively communicate complex technical issues to non-technical people.
· Strong working knowledge of process modeling, optimization and simulation software.
· Hands-on, motivated and results-oriented individual.
· Ability to work independently and as a team.
· Comfortable with up to 25% travel.
