Commercial Credit & Collections Specialist

Location: Schaumburg / Northwest Suburbs, IL
Salary: $54,000–$72,000 annually, plus potential bonus

Six Degrees Search is recruiting for an established company seeking an experienced Commercial Credit & Collections Specialist to join its accounting and credit team in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.

This position is ideal for someone with strong commercial credit and collections experience who enjoys working with customers, evaluating credit risk, resolving payment issues, and partnering with internal teams to manage accounts receivable.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of commercial customer accounts, including credit reviews, collections, and account reconciliation.

• Evaluate customer creditworthiness, payment histories, and credit exposure.

• Review credit applications and recommend appropriate credit limits and payment terms.

• Monitor AR aging reports, past-due balances, and collection activity.

• Investigate payment discrepancies, customer disputes, and account issues.

• Work closely with sales, accounting, and customer service teams to resolve credit concerns.

• Review credit holds, credit limit increases, and customer account adjustments.

• Identify opportunities to improve collection performance, reporting, and credit processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial credit, B2B collections, or accounts receivable.

• Strong understanding of credit risk, customer account management, and collection practices.

• Experience evaluating creditworthiness and reviewing customer payment histories.

• Familiarity with AR aging reports, credit limits, and collection procedures.

• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.

• Experience in distribution, manufacturing, construction, building materials, or related commercial industries is preferred.
