About the Opportunity
A prominent Business Management Firm serving entertainment industry professionals, executives, and high-net-worth individuals is seeking a Director of Tax to lead and expand its tax department.
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an accomplished tax professional who can elevate the department’s standards, systems, policies, and processes while overseeing complex tax matters for sophisticated clients and closely held entities.
The position is available as part of a planned leadership transition following the retirement of a long-tenured Tax Director. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of the tax function and may be considered for a future Partner-level path based on performance and leadership impact.

Location: Beverly Hills Area
Schedule: Hybrid — initially 4 days in-office and 1 day remote, with the potential to transition to 3 days in-office after approximately six months
Position Overview
The Director of Tax will oversee the firm’s tax department and lead its continued development into a best-in-class function. This individual will be responsible for departmental strategy, tax review, staff leadership, technical research, workflow management, compliance, and coordination with the firm’s Business Managers and Partners.
The role requires a combination of deep technical tax knowledge, proven people leadership, strong operational judgment, and the ability to manage complex tax matters involving entertainment clients, high-net-worth individuals, real estate investments, private equity holdings, and related entities.
Responsibilities
Department Leadership

Lead the firm’s tax department and participate in its continued expansion.

Establish and maintain high standards, policies, procedures, and quality controls.

Supervise and manage Tax Managers, Senior Tax Accountants, and other tax professionals.

Evaluate departmental staffing needs and support recruiting and team development.

Improve workflow, review processes, and operational efficiency.

Maintain and update tax compliance and project calendars.

Collaborate closely with Partners and Business Management leadership.
Tax Review and Compliance
-
Review complex federal, state, and local income tax filings.
-
Review tax returns for:
-
High-net-worth individuals
-
C Corporations
-
S Corporations
-
Partnerships and LLCs
-
Trusts and estates
-
Other fiduciary entities
-

Review quarterly estimates, tax projections, and planning calculations.

Review year-end closeout calculations for loan-out corporations.

Analyze payroll withholding requirements in connection with year-end projections.

Ensure tax filings and compliance obligations are completed accurately and on time.
Tax Research and Advisory

Analyze and respond to federal, state, and local tax notices.

Research complex tax matters and provide practical recommendations.

Advise on multistate and international tax issues.

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting clients.

Educate tax and Business Management professionals on new tax laws.

Partner with leadership on sophisticated client planning matters.
Team Development

Coach, mentor, and develop tax professionals at all levels.

Review staff work and provide clear, constructive feedback.

Establish training standards and technical development programs.

Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the department.
Qualifications
-
15+ years of progressive tax experience.
-
Significant experience reviewing complex high-net-worth and closely held business tax matters.
-
CPA license required.
-
Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, or a related field preferred.

Business Management Firm experience highly preferred.

Demonstrated experience leading and supervising a tax department.
