Position Overview

The Senior Director of Market Access will lead the development and execution of market access strategies to support reimbursement, payer coverage, and patient access initiatives across a growing portfolio of healthcare solutions. This individual will serve as a strategic leader responsible for payer engagement, reimbursement strategy, and value demonstration efforts across commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and government channels.

Working cross-functionally with commercial, medical, reimbursement, and executive leadership teams, the Director will play a critical role in shaping access strategy, supporting coverage expansion, and helping ensure sustainable reimbursement pathways for specialized healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

Market Access & Payer Strategy

  • Develop and execute comprehensive market access strategies to support reimbursement, coverage expansion, and payer adoption.
  • Lead engagement efforts with national and regional payers, managed care organizations, and reimbursement stakeholders.
  • Identify reimbursement and coverage opportunities, gaps, and barriers while developing strategic solutions to improve access.
  • Monitor payer trends, policy updates, and reimbursement changes to inform business strategy and commercial planning.

Reimbursement & Value Demonstration

  • Support the development of payer value propositions, reimbursement strategies, and healthcare economic frameworks.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to translate clinical and economic data into compelling market access narratives.
  • Identify evidence gaps and support initiatives that strengthen reimbursement and coverage positioning.
  • Contribute to payer-facing tools, value resources, and reimbursement support initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with commercial, medical affairs, finance, reimbursement, legal, and executive leadership teams to align market access priorities with broader business objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on payer dynamics, reimbursement trends, and access strategy.
  • Support organizational planning related to commercialization, reimbursement expansion, and market growth initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with payer stakeholders, reimbursement leaders, and external partners.
  • Represent the organization in industry meetings, advisory discussions, and relevant healthcare forums.
  • Help drive initiatives that support patient access and reimbursement success.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PhD, or similar) preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in market access, reimbursement, payer strategy, or healthcare economics within diagnostics, healthcare services, medical devices, biotech, life sciences, or related healthcare sectors.
  • Demonstrated success supporting payer coverage, reimbursement strategy, and access initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care reimbursement structures.
  • Experience building relationships with payer organizations and navigating reimbursement processes.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting reimbursement and payer strategy within diagnostics, specialty healthcare, laboratory services, or other complex healthcare environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare economics, reimbursement strategy, and payer value frameworks.
  • Experience working in high-growth, entrepreneurial, or emerging healthcare organizations is a plus.
