Title: Pathologists’ Assistant
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Afternoon/Evening shift

Overview

A growing healthcare organization is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant to support pathology services in a dynamic laboratory setting. This role is ideal for candidates with strong grossing experience who are comfortable working independently in a high-volume environment.

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination, dissection, and dictation of human tissue specimens
• Select representative sections for embedding, staining, and microscopic analysis
• Assist with intraoperative consultations, including frozen section preparation
• Ensure proper specimen accessioning and documentation
• Obtain and prepare tissue samples for specialized studies (e.g., immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry)
• Photograph gross specimens as needed and collaborate with pathologists on specialized procedures
• Retrieve and review patient clinical data to support diagnostic workflows
• Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of grossing stations
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards (including HIPAA)
• Identify and resolve discrepancies or workflow issues as they arise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or related field
• Completion of an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program
• ASCP certification required
• Strong knowledge of human anatomy, histology techniques, and lab procedures
• Demonstrated ability to gross independently and manage workload efficiently
• Experience with laboratory systems and reporting tools preferred
