Overview

A growing, high-complexity clinical laboratory is seeking a Molecular Laboratory Supervisor to lead daily lab operations and support advanced molecular testing. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, supporting cutting-edge diagnostics in genomics and molecular pathology.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Perform and oversee molecular testing including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
• Lead assay development, validation, and optimization for somatic and germline testing
• Analyze and interpret complex genomic data (ACMG/AMP guidelines)
• Support testing across single-gene, panel, and whole genome platforms
• Generate and review clinical reports

Laboratory Operations

• Supervise high-complexity workflows and daily lab operations
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA standards
• Oversee QA/QC programs, SOPs, and validation processes
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and workflows
• Maintain inspection-ready lab environment

Leadership & Team Development

• Supervise, mentor, and train laboratory staff
• Assist in hiring and onboarding new team members
• Maintain competency and training documentation
• Lead team meetings and drive performance

Collaboration

• Partner with lab leadership and cross-functional teams
• Support process improvements and operational efficiency
• Communicate findings through presentations and reporting

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline required
• Master’s or PhD preferred (or equivalent experience)

Experience

• Experience in a high-complexity molecular laboratory
• Strong hands-on experience with NGS, PCR, and genomic analysis
• Assay development/validation experience preferred
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus

Certifications (Preferred)

• ASCP, AMT, AAB, or equivalent certification
