Our client is an innovative biotechnology and diagnostic testing organization focused on advancing patient care through genomic and molecular testing.

The organization provides a broad portfolio of laboratory testing solutions supporting areas including genomics, rare disease, oncology, anatomic pathology, reproductive health, and other specialized diagnostic applications.

We are seeking a Senior Genomic Sales Representative to lead commercial growth across Texas. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives, expanding relationships with key healthcare organizations, identifying new business opportunities, and driving regional revenue performance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical genomics and diagnostic sales, a proven history of exceeding sales objectives, and the scientific aptitude necessary to communicate complex genomic and diagnostic concepts to sophisticated healthcare audiences.

Position Overview

The Senior Genomic Sales Rep will have significant ownership of the overall commercial performance and growth of the assigned territory.

Working closely with senior sales leadership, this individual will develop and execute a regional business plan based on market opportunities, customer needs, competitive intelligence, and business analytics.

This position requires an entrepreneurial mindset, strong business judgment, and the ability to independently manage a complex territory while serving as a strategic advisor to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic regional sales plans to achieve and exceed revenue objectives.
  • Own the overall growth and commercial performance of the assigned territory.
  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities within the market.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, prospects, healthcare organizations, and strategic partners.
  • Develop relationships with senior clinical and administrative stakeholders.
  • Conduct ongoing market and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and potential challenges.
  • Analyze territory performance and business intelligence to refine sales strategies and tactics.
  • Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and forecasting information within Salesforce or a comparable CRM.
  • Accurately forecast territory performance and communicate market trends, opportunities, and risks to senior sales leadership.
  • Serve as a strategic field advisor to senior leadership on market trends, competitive activity, business intelligence, and regional strategy.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of genomic and molecular diagnostic technologies and their clinical applications.
  • Deliver technical presentations, scientific discussions, seminars, webinars, and product demonstrations.
  • Educate physicians, laboratory professionals, researchers, and other healthcare stakeholders on appropriate applications and utilization of diagnostic testing.
  • Develop and foster long-term relationships with key customers and business partners.
  • Gather market intelligence and customer feedback to support commercial strategy and future product development.
  • Collaborate with marketing and cross-functional teams to develop educational materials, application content, and other market-facing resources.
  • Complete required sales and technical training.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and customer service.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory, with travel expected up to 50%.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an accomplished clinical genomics or diagnostics sales professional who combines strong scientific knowledge with strategic selling skills and a demonstrated history of exceeding commercial objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required; degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific discipline strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful clinical genomics or diagnostic sales experience.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated sales success, including a verifiable history of achieving or exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and business development skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to sell complex clinical or diagnostic solutions based on customer needs.
  • Experience working with senior clinical, administrative, and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Strong scientific and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific information to clinical audiences.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
  • Salesforce or comparable CRM experience.
  • Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-directed with strong ownership, initiative, and accountability.
  • Ability to work effectively with geographically dispersed and cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%.

Preferred Experience

  • Clinical genomics or molecular diagnostics sales experience.
  • Experience in rare disease, genetics, or genomic testing.
  • Established relationships with children’s hospitals, academic medical centers, or major healthcare systems.
  • Experience calling on geneticists, physicians, laboratory directors, researchers, or other clinical decision-makers.
  • Experience selling technically sophisticated diagnostic testing solutions.
  • Existing relationships within the Texas healthcare and academic medical market.
