EPSI needs a hands-on finance leader to stabilize the accounting function, tighten monthly reporting, and take critical back-office workload off ownership so the business can scale from its current level toward the next stage.
What success looks like in the first 90 to 120 days
- Monthly financials are accurate and completed by the 15th of the following month.
- You quickly learn and operate effectively in the current ERP system (SIBS), and you drive clean, reliable workflows across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll inputs.
- You begin building financial visibility through trend analysis and basic forecasting that supports pricing, margin, and cash decisions.
Core responsibilities
Accounting and close
- Own month-end close, reconciliations, and the monthly financial reporting cadence.
- Maintain accuracy and consistency in the general ledger, bank reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Partner with outside CPA and bookkeeping support to ensure clean, GAAP-compliant books and year-end readiness.
Accounts payable, controls, and process
- Oversee accounts payable workflow and ensure invoices are processed correctly and on time.
- Implement practical internal controls to prevent duplicate payments, missed payments, segregation of duties and vendor disruptions.
- Improve documentation, organization, and filing systems to support auditability and speed.
Compliance and taxes
- Coordinate and ensure timely payment and filing of required state and local obligations, including sales and use tax and applicable fees tied to the business.
- Maintain a calendar-driven compliance system so deadlines are tracked and not missed.
Business support and analysis
- Build basic dashboards and trend reporting that help ownership understand margin, cash needs, and operational performance.
- Support pricing review and margin discipline, particularly where input costs and terms are changing.
- Development and analysis of component and cost drivers
- Assist with cash forecasting, working capital visibility, and vendor term impact analysis.
Systems and tools
- Operate effectively in the current ERP environment and drive continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and plan a path to integrate ERP outputs with QuickBooks, or a comparable accounting system, as a staged and practical project.
- Strong Excel required. QuickBooks experience strongly preferred.
Team and working relationships
- Partner closely with ownership and operations leadership.
- Provide oversight and accountability across key finance workflows, including AP, AR, payroll inputs, and purchasing-related coordination.
- Work with the company’s long-term CPA partner as part of the review and oversight process.

- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing, job shop, distribution, or industrial services environment.
- Proven ability to run a close, improve processes, and create reliable reporting in a lean environment.
- Comfortable being hands-on while also setting structure and improving systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work across a small team without friction.
- Highly organized with strong follow-through, moves with pace.
