This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is early in their maintenance career, recently completed a technical or trade school program, or has hands-on mechanical and electrical knowledge but does not yet have formal industrial maintenance experience.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician Apprentice will work alongside experienced maintenance personnel to learn how to maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair manufacturing machinery and equipment.

The ideal candidate is someone who wants to build a long-term career in industrial maintenance and is eager to learn. Formal work experience is not required. Candidates who have recently completed trade school, technical training, or an industrial maintenance program are encouraged to apply.

Candidates with strong hands-on mechanical or electrical skills gained through previous work, military service, personal projects, or other practical experience may also be considered.

Training Opportunity

This position is designed to provide hands-on succession training.

The selected candidate will work on 1st shift alongside an experienced Maintenance Technician who is preparing for retirement. During this training period, the apprentice will learn the plant's equipment, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting processes, and repair techniques directly from an experienced professional.

The goal is to develop the apprentice into a capable Maintenance Technician who can independently support the plant's equipment and maintenance needs.

Key Responsibilities

As training progresses, the Maintenance Technician Apprentice will learn to:

• Troubleshoot and diagnose manufacturing machinery and production equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment issues.
• Learn to troubleshoot motors, controls, electrical systems, and other industrial equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Identify the cause of equipment failures and determine appropriate repairs.
• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs under appropriate supervision.
• Assist with equipment installation, modifications, and improvement projects.
• Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Communicate equipment issues and repair needs to maintenance and production leadership.
• Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area.
• Progress toward independently diagnosing and repairing equipment.
• Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Previous maintenance employment is NOT required.

The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following:

• Recently completed a trade school, technical school, or industrial maintenance program.
• Electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, automation, or related technical education.
• Hands-on mechanical or electrical experience.
• Experience working with tools and equipment.
• Military technical training or experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning industrial maintenance.
