Slitter Operator – 1st & 3rd Shift

Corporate Hiring Solutions (CHS) is currently recruiting Slitter Operators for a leading manufacturing company in the Decatur, Alabama area. These are temp-to-hire opportunities with a stable, growing manufacturer offering long-term career potential.

• 3rd Shift (Offers a $1.50/hour Shift Differential)

Position Summary

The Slitter Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring slitting equipment used to process metal coils into customer-specific widths while maintaining strict quality standards and production goals. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and committed to producing a high-quality product in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor slitting machinery according to production specifications.
• Load and position metal coils using overhead cranes or other material handling equipment (training provided if applicable).
• Verify work orders, material specifications, widths, and dimensions before production begins.
• Perform quality inspections using measuring devices to ensure products meet customer specifications.
• Monitor equipment during operation and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Package and prepare finished material for shipment.
• Complete production documentation accurately and maintain inventory records.
• Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing policies.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing or machine operator experience preferred.
• Experience operating slitting equipment is a plus but not required.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read measuring tools, production orders, and work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull throughout the shift.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
• Ability to safely operate around heavy industrial equipment.
