Tool Technician
The Tool Technician supports daily shop operations by ensuring tools, equipment, and assets are accurately tracked, maintained, tested, and mobilized to the field on time. This role is pivotal to minimizing lost time and cost on our projects and requires a blend of mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and strong organization. The ideal candidate takes pride in a well-run shop, works well as part of a team, and is committed to improving the experience of our field crews and customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Shop Operations
• Execute daily tasks that support the productive use of tools and assets; work as part of a team to ensure work is completed fully, accurately, and on time, and assist with training as needed.
• Follow current standards for tracking tools and assets, including all Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) governing shop operations.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the shop, facility, and grounds.
Tool & Equipment Management
• Fulfill tool work orders, including staging, mobilizing to job sites, and demobilizing/returning to the shop.
• Loading and unloading all vehicles and shipments as required.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Field Operations, and other departments to identify tooling needs and communicate potential issues or shortages.
• Consistently and accurately use company systems for tool tracking, inventory, ordering, usage, storage, and certification (in-house and third-party) to maximize efficiency and tool life.
• Inspect, clean, test, and perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment returned from the field; tag out and route damaged or non-compliant items for repair or replacement.
• Track calibration and certification due dates and ensure only compliant equipment is issued to the field.
Warehouse Management
• Maintain warehouse layout and organization to optimize efficiency and visibility and reduce search and lost time.
• Receive, inspect, and put away incoming tools, equipment, and materials; verify against orders and report discrepancies.
• Operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment safely to load, unload, and stage shipments.
• Keep the warehouse clean and orderly to reflect Pro Services’ standards and professional image.
Safety & Compliance
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, wear required PPE, and report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Ability to obtain forklift certification upon hire and pass all internal training and safety training requirements.
• Ability to take direction and complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills; able to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with mobile apps, computers, Microsoft Excel, and Google Workspace.
• Preferred chauffeur license or ability to obtain
• Valid driver’s license may be required for pickups and deliveries.
Preferred
• High school diploma or GED.
• Work experience in a team-based environment.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
• Knowledge of tool and equipment maintenance practices.
• Prior forklift experience.
