Position Overview
The Inpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager provides strategic and hands-on leadership across both operational and clinical pharmacy services within a small, high-performing rural hospital. This is a unique environment where innovation, autonomy, and collaboration come together—allowing you to practice at the top of your license while directly influencing patient care.
You’ll oversee medication distribution systems, lead clinical pharmacy initiatives, and serve as a key Epic Willow inpatient expert. Key Responsibilities
You will lead all aspects of inpatient pharmacy operations, including medication distribution, sterile compounding, automated dispensing systems, controlled substances, and inventory management. Ensuring compliance with USP <797>/<800>, Joint Commission standards, and regulatory requirements will be central to your role.
You’ll drive optimization of workflows, including ADC configuration, cart fill processes, and Epic integration, while also overseeing drug purchasing, shortage management, and cost stewardship. Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and leading quality improvement initiatives will ensure safe, efficient, and high-performing operations.
On the clinical side, you’ll support evidence-based pharmacy services across all inpatient areas. You’ll lead medication safety efforts, including adverse event review and process improvement, and contribute to formulary management and Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee activities. During high-acuity periods, you’ll step in to provide direct clinical support.
As a key Epic Willow leader, you’ll guide both operational and clinical workflows within the system—overseeing medication records, order routing, decision support tools, and reporting. You’ll collaborate closely with IT and clinical teams to optimize system performance and ensure alignment with patient safety and rural care needs.
Leadership & Team Development
This role offers the opportunity to shape and mentor a dedicated pharmacy team. You’ll directly manage pharmacists and technicians, leading hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance development. You’ll also drive ongoing education in clinical protocols, operational workflows, and Epic functionality.
In a rural hospital setting, cross-training and skill development are essential—you’ll help elevate technician capabilities and support pharmacists in expanding their clinical expertise. You’ll also engage with nursing staff, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to strengthen medication-use practices across the organization.

Qualifications
PharmD and active Colorado pharmacist license
Hospital pharmacy experience (rural experience preferred)
Proven leadership across operations and clinical services
Experience managing pharmacy staff
Epic Willow inpatient experience strongly preferred
Strong regulatory, clinical, and communication skills
