Profitable, well-established, privately held heavy manufacturer is seeking an Engineering Manager - Electrical to oversee the company's electrical and mechanical engineering team.  Daily you will oversee a team of established engineers and will report to the President.  You will have the following responsibilities: 
 
  • Coach, mentor and develop a group of electrical and mechanical engineers at different levels
  • Oversee individual and 8-12 group projects, including monitoring budgets and timelines, related to capital equipment, facilities and continuous improvement 
  • Partner with the maintenance lead daily on project installs, plant shutdowns, timelines, etc. 
  • Work with purchasing to complete purchase requisitions for projects
  • Assist and lead PLC troubleshooting within the plant, all Allen-Bradley PLCs
  • Become the site engineering expert for all electrical problem solving
  • Champion strategic engineering planning, including developing long-term CapEx project goals
  • Oversee the plant layout and continuously develop improvements to the manufacturing process 
  • Lead audits related to fire protection 
  • Be willing to wear multiple hats and be an individual contributor to the engineering team
  • Act as the site lead for property casualty and risk assessments, including being the point of contact to the insurance broker 
 
This Engineering Manager - Electrical is required to be on site Monday-Friday; there is no remote work available for this position.  Qualified candidates should be strong technically, including PLC troubleshooting, in addition to having leadership skills to coach and mentor a staff of engineers.  It will be important to be able to hold others accountable to projects and deadlines.  Communication skills will be critical, as this individual will communicate with staff on the manufacturing floor and work daily with the President of the company.   Qualified candidates should be willing to take after-hour calls as needed, work weekends when needed for projects, and be willing to work over plant summer shutdown to oversee equipment installs and upgrades.  Benefits include 401K, vacation, profit sharing that pays out, an unbelievable medical plan, and paid holidays! 

Requirements for the Engineering Manager - Electrical:
1. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; Electrical Engineering highly preferred 
2. At least 10-15 years of similar electrical engineering experience, with at least two years in a leadership role 
3. Experience working in heavy manufacturing environments, ideally metals related  
4. Extensive background working with high voltage (480V at minimum, ideally higher)
5. CapEx project management, including timelines and budgets 
6. PLC troubleshooting and the ability to understand ladder logic 
7. Ability to read blueprints 
8. Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook 
 
Skills that are preferred, BUT NOT required:
1. PLC programming and automation 
2. Allen-Bradley PLCs
