Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking a skilled Litigation Counsel Attorney to join its dynamic Trial & Defense Practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of sophisticated matters, including New York Labor Law, premises liability, catastrophic injury, transportation, hospitality, negligent security, and other complex general liability claims. Attorneys in this group enjoy direct interaction with clients, as well as domestic and international insurers, handling high-exposure and latent-type claims.

 


 

Candidate Profile

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school with an excellent academic record 
    • Class Year 2016 or earlier
  • Active Bar Admission in New York, in good standing
  • 8+ years of substantive litigation experience
  • Experience defending general liabilitycatastrophic injury, or complex tort matters
  • Background handling New York Labor Law claims strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to take and defend depositions
  • Experience managing and supervising associates and paralegals
  • Superior legal writing, analytical, and research skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work directly with insurer clients and insureds
  • Motivated, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

 


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a litigation caseload of approximately 25–30 matters
  • Take and defend depositions, and participate in hearings and mediations
  • Draft and argue motions, and prepare pleadings and briefs
  • Prepare detailed correspondence and reporting to clients and carrier representatives
  • Conduct legal research using WestlawLexis, and other research tools
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery requests
  • Reviewanalyze, and organize documents and materials for production
  • Investigate claimsdevelop case strategy, and assess liability and exposure
  • Supervise associates and paralegals
  • Assist in trial and mediation preparation and participate as needed
  • Collaborate with partners, clients, and cross-functional teams to advance case objectives

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: Expected annual base salary range of $200,000–$220,000, as determined by experience and market factors
