Join Our Team as a Safety Manager!

Are you an experienced and results-driven safety leader ready to take company-wide ownership of safety and health programs for a leading commercial MEP contractor? We are seeking a Safety Manager to champion our safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and set the standard for safety excellence across all job sites and facilities.

This is a high-impact, direct-hire, full-time position based in Dayton, Ohio, with a company renowned for its family-oriented culture, exceptional employee retention, and specialization in large-scale mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.

What You'll Be Doing: 

Culture & Leadership

  • Champion Safety Excellence: Serve as the highly visible, company-wide leader, actively promoting a positive safety culture and chairing the Company Safety Committee.

  • Safety Rewards Program: Drive engagement and participation in the Company Safety Rewards Program to recognize and reinforce safe behaviors.

  • Technical Authority: Maintain professional safety credentials (such as OSHA 500/501, CSP, CHST) and provide expert technical advice on safety matters to senior management.

Compliance & Audits

  • Regulatory Oversight: Own and manage all aspects of OSHA compliance, setting and enforcing the standard for jobsite, local, and construction safety regulations.

  • Training & Development: Design, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive safety training programs, including overseeing the Hazard Communication Program.

  • Inspections: Manage and conduct regular, proactive safety inspections across all job sites and facilities.

Incident & Case Management

  • Incident Response: Lead and oversee incident response, including conducting thorough investigations and detailed reporting.

  • Liaison: Act as the primary liaison with regulatory partners (OSHA) and external emergency response partners (fire departments, rescue teams).

  • Transitional Work: Collaborate closely with HR to manage post-incident case management and coordinate Transitional Work (Return-to-Work) programs.

Environment & Schedule

  • Work Style: A dynamic blend of time dedicated to on-site inspections/audits, training delivery, and office-based analysis/documentation.

  • Schedule: Full-time, Exempt role, typically Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM.

  • Location: Based in Dayton, Ohio, with travel to local and regional job sites as needed.

What We're Seeking:

  • Experience: 15 years of progressively responsible experience in safety, with a strong background in commercial construction, specifically within the plumbing and/or sheet metal trades.

  • Supervision: 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity (e.g., Foreman, Superintendent, or equivalent).

  • Credentials: Must hold a combination of the following, demonstrating a commitment to safety expertise:

    • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification

    • OSHA 500 & 501 OSHA Outreach Train-The-Trainer certification

    • Certified Aerial Lift Trainer

    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Construction Safety & Health Technician (CHST) is highly valued.

  • Skills: Advanced knowledge of construction-specific OSHA standards, exceptional leadership and communication skills, strong organizational proficiency, and proven ability to manage company-wide programs.
