Location: This is an on-site opportunity based in the Rochester, New York area, ideal for someone who wants to be embedded with the team and grow in a collaborative office environment. After one year, a hybrid schedule may be available.

Note: To be considered, you must have 3+ years of substantive patent prosecution experience in biomedical engineering, a strong technical background in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field, and admission to the USPTO.

Job Description

  • Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in biomedical and mechanical technology areas
  • Prepare office action responses and handle examiner interviews
  • Advise clients on patentability, prosecution strategy, and portfolio development
  • Manage patent portfolios, deadlines, and related communications with precision
  • Work directly with clients, inventors, and foreign associates
  • Contribute to a collaborative practice while handling substantive work with a high degree of ownership

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of substantive patent prosecution experience in biomedical engineering
  • Strong technical background in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or similar
  • USPTO admission required
  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admission to at least one U.S. state bar
  • Experience drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
