Business Development Manager
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and expanding our footprint within large and medium-sized fleets, as well as heavy-duty OEM customers.
The ideal candidate blends technical diagnostic acumen with enterprise sales expertise to manage custom sales strategies, uncover new market opportunities, and consistently achieve an annual sales goal of $3M–$5M.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Management & Growth
- Business Development: Prospect, develop, and secure new fleet and heavy-duty OEM accounts to continually expand the revenue base.
- Relationship & Contract Strategy: Cultivate deep customer relationships, identify high-margin revenue streams, and craft winning strategies to secure profitable contracts.
- Product Demonstrations: Conduct technical presentations and live demonstrations of commercial vehicle diagnostic equipment to potential clients.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with internal and external sales channels to increase market share for fleet programs.
Forecasting & Operational Excellence
- Pipeline & Revenue Forecasting: Accurately forecast revenue, submit timely proposals, and proactively address potential shortfalls or obstacles to success.
- Account Planning: Develop structured account plans, report on activities, and collaborate with product management and Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) to align lead times and production schedules with customer forecasts.
- Brand Advocacy: Maintain corporate branding standards and partner with Marketing department graphics and media specialists to co-develop high-quality collateral.
- Knowledge Sharing: Actively share market data, competitive intelligence, and successful sales tactics with the broader sales team to optimize corporate strategy.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience & Education
- Industry Experience: 5–7 years of successful B2B sales experience within the commercial vehicle, heavy-duty truck, automotive service tool, or diagnostic equipment industries.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales Management, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Technical & Professional Core Competencies
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with computer interfaces, software platforms, and the ability to confidently learn, explain, and demonstrate complex vehicle repair/diagnostic hardware and software.
- Communication & Presentation: Superlative written and verbal communication skills; a proven ability to break down complex technical concepts for audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Business Tools: Highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management planning tools (such as MS Project or Visio).
- Travel: Ability and willingness to undertake extensive overnight travel as required to support accounts.
