Vice President, Sales

Location:  Northeast/Northwest, Ohio area

Position Summary

The Vice President of Sales is responsible for leading and executing the sales strategy, growth initiatives, and revenue objectives for two company Sales groups across North America. As a member of the senior leadership team, this role will develop and implement sales strategies that accelerate growth, strengthen customer relationships, expand market share, and maximize profitability.

The VP of Sales will provide leadership, coaching, and direction to both field and inside sales organizations while fostering a culture of accountability, customer focus, and operational excellence. This individual will work closely with executive leadership to align sales objectives with overall business goals and create sustainable growth opportunities across software  and business services markets.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the overall North American sales strategy for two groups.
  • Partner with executive leadership to establish revenue growth objectives, sales plans, and market expansion strategies.
  • Evaluate market trends, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities to drive business growth.
  • Translate corporate vision into actionable sales initiatives and measurable business outcomes.
  • Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team and contribute to business planning, forecasting, and organizational strategy.

Sales Leadership & Execution

  • Lead and manage Inside Sales, Field Sales, sales activities, national accounts, and channel sales programs.
  • Drive accountability for sales performance, revenue attainment, customer growth, and profitability objectives.
  • Establish sales quotas, territory alignment, compensation objectives, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and implement sales initiatives targeted at specific customer segments, partners, groups, and geographic markets.
  • Ensure effective sales execution through coaching, mentoring, training, and talent development.
  • Build a high-performing sales culture focused on customer success, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Customer & Market Development

  • Maintain executive-level relationships with customers, representatives, groups, strategic partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive customer satisfaction and long-term business partnerships.
  • Assess customer needs and develop value-based solutions that enhance customer preference and business results.
  • Support major negotiations, presentations, proposals, and strategic account opportunities.
  • Champion market-driven product, service, and promotional initiatives.

Operational Excellence

  • Own sales forecasting, budgeting, pipeline management, and performance reporting processes.
  • Manage sales expenses and resource planning to achieve business objectives.
  • Evaluate and improve sales processes, CRM utilization, reporting disciplines, and operational effectiveness.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Management, Marketing, Customer Success, Service, Finance, and Operations teams.
  • Ensure timely communication of business performance, customer feedback, and market intelligence.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field required.
  • MBA or advanced business degree preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience.
  • Proven success leading multi-channel sales organizations across North America.
  • Experience within technology, software, services, industry aftermarket.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing growth strategies while consistently meeting or exceeding revenue objectives.
  • Experience managing forecasting, budgeting, sales operations, and performance management processes.
  • Experience leading both inside and field sales teams.
