We are looking for a highly skilled Scientist with expertise in subsea technology, acoustics, electronics design, sonar signal processing, autonomous systems, as well as software development. An understanding of Navy technologies and operations will be an advantage.

Role Overview:

As a Sensing and Communications Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in multidisciplinary teams addressing critical national security challenges. You will have the opportunity to closely collaborate with subject matter experts, lead project teams, and make significant contributions to innovative maritime systems across various stages of the technology lifecycle, from initial analysis to prototyping and testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop complex undersea acoustic systems.
  • Drive the development and execution of ongoing and future maritime programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve intricate system design challenges while adhering to strict design requirements.
  • Lead and execute at-sea experiments to validate system performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in partnering with senior technical staff to create innovative technology solutions meeting customer needs.
  • Ability to lead and contribute technically to complex tasks at a detailed level.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with project managers, IPT leads, and customers.
  • Experience with acoustic communication systems design or usage.
  • Solid understanding and application of fundamental physics and mathematics principles.

Desired Experience:

  • Success in managing multiple multidisciplinary technical programs, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
  • Experience with US Navy undersea warfare leadership and operations is a plus.
  • Proficiency in designing complex undersea systems involving custom PCBs, embedded software, and signal processing.
  • At least one year of experience in developing or designing communication systems for wireless or underwater applications.

Location: This full-time position is based in Groton, CT, with flexibility to work from Pawcatuck, CT.
