Join our dynamic team as a Manufacturing Engineer in the automotive sector, where you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing manufacturing processes for new product lines. This position is based in Greenville, SC, and offers the opportunity to work with a leading Tier 1 and Tier 2 auto supplier.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop manufacturing processes for new automotive products.
- Specify and procure all necessary manufacturing equipment and tooling.
- Create and maintain process routings and establish manufacturing process metrics.
- Conduct detailed Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Perform comprehensive manufacturing cost analysis and assist in 'make or buy' decisions for component parts.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes and reduce costs.
- Address technical issues related to process performance, including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Support the transition of products from development to production stages.
- Develop and implement training programs for manufacturing and maintenance staff.
- Establish preventive maintenance procedures and metrics.
Ergonomic Considerations
- Work involves desk and production floor activities.
- Requires reading reports and engaging in verbal and written communication, including phone and computer use.
- Involves standing, walking, and sitting during an 8-hour workday.
- Frequent lifting of up to 20 lbs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial) is required.
- Experience in Automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 environments is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and CAD software (AutoCAD, ProEngineer, SolidWorks).
- Experience in developing tooling and equipment specifications.
- Proven experience with tooling and equipment vendors, including quotations, contracts, and project management.
- Demonstrated use of Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma or other problem-solving tools.
- Experience in developing, monitoring, and improving complete manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with TS16949 requirements.
- Proven track record of managing projects on schedule and under budget.
