About the Role
Join our dynamic team as a Principal Electrical Engineer, where you will spearhead the development and execution of cutting-edge clean energy projects. This position is crucial in designing and implementing state-of-the-art power systems, including utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV), battery storage solutions, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and microgrids. Your expertise will contribute significantly to powering various sectors with sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and engineering of solar PV, battery storage, EV charging systems, and off-grid microgrid solutions.
- Develop comprehensive construction drawing sets, including single-line and three-line diagrams, ensuring adherence to NEC, IEEE, and utility interconnection standards.
- Conduct thorough interconnection studies, prepare applications, and develop dynamic system models.
- Perform detailed power system studies such as load flow analysis, arc flash assessments, short circuit evaluation, harmonic analysis, and protective device coordination.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate infrastructure and optimize equipment placement.
- Manage relationships with vendors to integrate innovative distributed energy resources (DERs).
- Collaborate with clients, utilities, and contractors to address design challenges and respond to requests for information (RFIs).
- Write clear and concise technical reports and proposals to explain complex energy solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all safety codes, jurisdictional regulations, and utility requirements.
Qualifications:
- California Professional Engineer (PE) License (highly preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power distribution, utility interconnection, or DER systems.
- In-depth expertise in solar PV, energy storage, EV infrastructure, and/or microgrids.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and utility interconnection procedures.
- Proficiency with power system modeling tools such as ETAP, SKM, or similar software.
- Experience with bills of materials (BOMs), equipment specifications, and routing plans.
- Ability to balance technical detail with strategic problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients, regulators, and cross-functional teams.
