Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Packaging Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves designing and implementing innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions that maintain product integrity through various shipping environments while embodying brand values. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations and drive continuous improvement in packaging processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate packaging designs in partnership with Product, Brand, and Product Integrity teams.
  • Ensure adherence to e-commerce standards and global environmental regulations, including UN 38.3 lithium battery testing.
  • Optimize returnable packaging systems to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Support Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) projects by identifying material and labor cost savings while preserving quality.
  • Conduct supplier audits and contribute to onboarding and performance evaluations.
  • Lead initiatives for sustainable packaging, focusing on material reduction, recyclability, and closed-loop systems.
  • Utilize data analytics to monitor performance, reduce damage, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Attend industry expos to remain informed about packaging innovations and best practices.
  • Mentor team members and enhance internal packaging knowledge and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering (preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in high-volume consumer or industrial product packaging.
  • Proficient in CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Expertise in the design and testing of corrugated, pulp, foam, and printed retail packaging.
  • Familiarity with ASTM/ISTA standards, UN 38.3, lean manufacturing practices, and sustainability certifications (FSC, SFI, How2Recycle).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, travel up to 20%, and collaborate with global teams.
