Materials/Purchasing Manager, Automotive OEM

This role is a unique opportunity to lead the Materials Department, focusing on logistics, purchasing, and material movement, all while contributing to the success and growth of the operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and lead purchasing and inventory control functions within the facility.
- Manage and mentor a team of buyers, planners, and warehouse personnel.
- Negotiate and establish both short- and long-term raw materials contracts.
- Develop strategies to reduce parts costs and optimize inventory levels.
- Prepare the Materials Department for future business needs and opportunities.
- Act as a liaison with vendors and customers to ensure strong relationships.
- Maintain the Purchased Part Variance (PPV) goals effectively.
- Generate and present materials metrics to plant staff.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Develop and manage the department's budget.
- Engage in project work as assigned by the Plant Manager.
Ergonomic Considerations
- Work involves desk activities and plant walkthroughs.
- Reading, typing, and report generation are key tasks.
- Expect standing, walking, and sitting throughout an 8-hour workday.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven leadership experience in materials or systems management.
- A minimum of five years in a similar role, preferably within the automotive industry (Tier 1, Tier 2, or OEM).
- Strong purchasing and project management expertise.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency with MRP systems and MS Office applications.
