Materials/Purchasing Manager, Automotive OEM

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and lead purchasing and inventory control functions within the facility.
• Manage and mentor a team of buyers, planners, and warehouse personnel.
• Negotiate and establish both short- and long-term raw materials contracts.
• Develop strategies to reduce parts costs and optimize inventory levels.
• Prepare the Materials Department for future business needs and opportunities.
• Act as a liaison with vendors and customers to ensure strong relationships.
• Maintain the Purchased Part Variance (PPV) goals effectively.
• Generate and present materials metrics to plant staff.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• Develop and manage the department's budget.
• Engage in project work as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Ergonomic Considerations

• Work involves desk activities and plant walkthroughs.
• Reading, typing, and report generation are key tasks.
• Expect standing, walking, and sitting throughout an 8-hour workday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proven leadership experience in materials or systems management.
• A minimum of five years in a similar role, preferably within the automotive industry (Tier 1, Tier 2, or OEM).
• Strong purchasing and project management expertise.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency with MRP systems and MS Office applications.
