Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Materials Manager to join a leading aerospace manufacturing facility. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the seamless flow of materials, from procurement to production and distribution, enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor teams in Production Planning, Scheduling, Logistics, and Inventory Control.
  • Design and execute material planning strategies encompassing all aspects of material management including procurement, flow, outsourced processing, and inventory management.
  • Play a critical role in the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process to align production schedules with market demands.
  • Analyze and improve schedule attainment and plant capacity, ensuring balanced operations and identifying future resource needs.
  • Initiate projects to enhance on-time delivery, reduce order backlogs, and optimize the supply chain.
  • Develop inventory strategies to maintain service levels while minimizing excess stock and capital use.
  • Implement Lean supply chain improvements to eliminate waste and boost efficiency.
  • Devise supplier strategies to ensure quality, reliability, and stability of material supplies.
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve supply chain issues and enhance operational performance.
  • Support plant management in driving operational improvements to increase throughput and reduce costs.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the Plant Manager, contributing to key decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership experience in materials, purchasing, planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing setting.
  • Expertise in production planning, capacity modeling, and complex manufacturing scheduling.
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems, with experience in SAP or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, logistics, and supplier management.
  • Experience in implementing Lean manufacturing or supply chain methodologies.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at collaborating with diverse teams including operations, finance, and sales.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.
  • APICS certification and/or an MBA are highly desirable.
