LITIGATION ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY (MID LEVEL)

GENERAL LIABILITY & COMPLEX TORT DEFENSE

Our client, a leading international law firm, is seeking a skilled Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic Trial & Defense Practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of sophisticated matters, including New York Labor Law, premises liability, catastrophic injury, transportation, hospitality, negligent security, and other complex general liability claims. Associates in this group enjoy direct interaction with clients, as well as domestic and international insurers handling high-exposure and latent-type claims.

 

 

Candidate Profile

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school with an excellent academic record
  • Active Bar Admission in New York, in good standing
  • 3–6 years of substantive litigation experience
  • Experience defending general liability, catastrophic injury, or complex tort matters
  • Background handling New York Labor Law claims strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to take and defend depositions
  • Superior legal writing, analytical, and research skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work directly with insurer clients and insureds
  • Motivated, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a litigation caseload of approximately 25–30 matters
  • Take and defend depositions, and participate in hearings and mediations
  • Draft and argue motions, and prepare pleadings and briefs
  • Prepare detailed correspondence and reporting to clients and carrier representatives
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw, Lexis, and other research tools
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery requests
  • Review, analyze, and organize documents and materials for production
  • Investigate claims, develop case strategy, and assess liability and exposure
  • Assist in trial and mediation preparation and participate as needed
  • Collaborate with partners, clients, and cross-functional teams to advance case objectives

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: Expected annual base salary range of $130,000–$165,000, as determined by experience and market factors
