Job Description
Our aerospace client near Springfield, MA is seeking a Cost Estimator with experience in aerospace manufacturing for a full-time position on first shift. Will be responsible for reviewing item specifications, blueprints, schematics, and similar documents to estimate material, labor, & production times costs for aerospace components, generating appropriate BOM's and manufacturing orders, and interacting with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review & interpret detailed materials, including blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications, to calculate material, labor, and tooling costs.
- Develop and deliver accurate project quotes in conformity with company manufacturing capabilities and client requirements.
- Develop manufacturing routings, bills of material, and labor estimates.
- Interact with engineering, production, and supply chain to validate assumptions and ensure manufacturability.
- Interact with vendors and subcontractors to maximize cost-efficiency.
- Monitor raw materials market pricing trends to proactively adjust estimation strategies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in cost estimation in aerospace manufacturing is essential for consideration
- HS diploma or GED required; ASME or BSME desirable
- Minimum 5 years' cost estimation experience in aerospace manufacturing.
- Familiarity with CNC machine capabilities and related processes (welding, heat treating, finishing, etc.)
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complicated and detailed engineering specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret customer blueprints, specifications and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel, for data modeling, analysis, and reporting.
- Knowledge of CAD software for blueprint and schematic translation into manufacturing calculations.
- Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude with a focus on precision and error reduction.
- Good interpersonal skills and cross-functionality in a manufacturing environment
- Good customer service and vendor management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
