We are seeking a skilled Senior Business Analyst with deep experience in transportation and warehousing operations to analyze current-state workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and define future-state processes. This role partners closely with operations, IT, and implementation teams to produce clear visual process diagrams and detailed business requirements that enable the design, configuration, and deployment of new or improved systems and processes.
 
This role would be a 3 month contract engagement to support a technology-driven initiative within a logistics, warehousing, and transportation environment. For this role, we are looking for someone based in Houston TX and who could come on site at times at our offices as needed. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Business Analysis & Process Improvement
  • Analyze end-to-end transportation and warehousing workflows (e.g., inbound/outbound 
    logistics, inventory management, order fulfillment, billing, yard management, carrier 
    management).
  • Facilitate workshops and interviews with business stakeholders to understand current
    state processes, pain points, and constraints.
  • Identify inefficiencies, gaps, and improvement opportunities across people, process, and 
    technology.
  • Define future-state processes aligned with operational goals and system capabilities.
Requirements & Documentation
  • Produce clear, structured business requirements including:
    • Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)
    • Functional Requirements
    • User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
  • Develop high-quality visual artifacts such as:
    • Process flow diagrams (current-state and future-state)
    • Swimlane diagrams
    • Data and integration flow diagrams
  • Ensure requirements are unambiguous, testable, and traceable through design, configuration, and implementation. 
Systems & Implementation Support 
  • Translate business needs into requirements suitable for configuring and implementing 
    systems such as TMS, WMS, ERP, and related logistics platforms.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, developers, and vendors to ensure requirements are 
    correctly interpreted and implemented.
  • Support system design reviews, configuration decisions, and solution validation.
  • Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT), including test scenario definition and defect 
    triage. 
Stakeholder Collaboration 
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Communicate complex process and system concepts clearly to both technical and non
    technical audiences.
  • Support change management by helping stakeholders understand new processes and 
    system impacts. 
 
Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with significant focus on transportation and 
    warehousing domains.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including transportation planning/execution 
    and warehouse operations.
  • Proven experience analyzing workflows and redesigning business processes.
  • Extensive experience creating process diagrams and formal requirements documentation.
  • Hands-on experience supporting system implementations or major process 
    transformations.
  • Proficiency with modeling and documentation tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, Jira, 
    Confluence).
  • Preferred experience with TMS, WMS, and ERP systems.
