We are seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer (Director) to lead several greenfield projects for our established and profitable educational services organization and build a team over time. You will be the technical anchor for developing a platform used by over forty schools. This platform supports functions such as teacher and class scheduling, rostering, billing, and student assessments across many education programs.
The Role
You will be the technical anchor and play a critical role in applying agentic AI tools to develop new software applications used by our business as well as define the future-state architecture. You will write production code 80-90% of the time initially, own architecture decisions, and lay the foundation for the team you will grow underneath you. This is not a management role with occasional code reviews. We need someone who is hands-on and has or can use AI Agentic development tools to build applications.
You will be leading a development team where AI agents are driving the build, not assisting it. This is a fundamental shift in how software is being developed, and it is how we are building from day one. If you have been waiting for the right environment to work this way, this is it.
In the early months, you will write code, make architecture decisions, and ship real capabilities. As the team grows under you, you will provide technical mentorship and guidance as a partner not a gatekeeper.
- Own architecture and engineering strategy
- Use AI-driven tools for software development
- Build and lead a team of 5–6 engineers

- Partner with Product and business stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of experience — and Still in the Code. Ten or more years of senior engineering, architecture decisions, and shipped products not from the sidelines, in it. You are the technical anchor the rest of the team builds around.
- A Senior IC Who Will Build a Team. You are comfortable as both architect and deep individual contributor today, and you genuinely want to grow and mentor a team when the time comes. This is not a role for someone avoiding people work and it is not a role for someone who wants to manage from day one.
- A Clear Communicator. You translate complex technical decisions into language that builds trust with non-technical business leaders. You hold your own when an executive room turns technical and can clearly communicate ideas to executives.
- Strong hands-on software development background with more recent experience using AI tools for code development
- Strong cloud experience (AWS preferred)
Location: Atlanta, GA (We would prefer you to live in Atlanta or willing to come to Atlanta as needed and work remotely)
