Senior QA Software Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Quality Software Engineer to join our team and work with our Software Engineers and other technical professionals in our SDLC process. We are a leading provider and software technologies in our field and based in Alpharetta, GA. We are working in a hybrid manner so you would need to CURRENTLY live within commuting distance of Alpharetta, GA and be willing to work on site as needed - some of the testing is of equipment that would only be available in our office and lab facilities. In this role, you will be working in our QA/Test environment and will be testing both software and hardware features of our products.
This role is primarily manual testing, but we are doing more automated testing and would like you to have experience in automated testing as we grow that capability! Some of your responsibilities would include:
- Continually developing professional expertise in all aspects of test engineering.
- Follow the department test process.
- Evaluate and provide input to requirement documents.
- Work through difficult problems for resolution.
- An experienced professional with a full understanding of several specific jurisdictional requirements.
- Demonstrate good judgement in selecting testing methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Create and execute automated and manual testing on new and existing products.
- Ensure quality meets the requisite functional, technical, and regulatory compliance and maintains high overall product quality.
- Provide test plans, test scripts and test summary reports.
- Interface with Product and Development staff to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Gather and analyze data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.
- Resolves a wide range of issues in creative and effective ways.
- Reproduce issues, when necessary, to assist software development in resolving production issues.
- Responsible for project escalations for each assigned project.
- Submit clearly written bug reports and reporting results when necessary to the associated management teams.
- Create a test environment and then control the integrity of that environment during the life of a project.
- Monitor status of bug reports created during testing cycles.
- Provide general status and information about specific project risks to Software Development Managers and the Software Quality Control Engineering Manager.
- Apply and monitor proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives.
- Mentor new or more junior QA Engineers on assigned projects.
For this role, we are looking for you to have the following skills and experience:
- 10+ years’ experience in software testing, setting up test environments, testing and logging results; or equivalent experience. Experience leading and mentoring junior QA team members.
- Basic understanding and experience with UNIX commands - Linux (Ubuntu)
- A working knowledge or experience with Jira.
- Strong with SQL and ideally experience with PostgreSQL.
- API testing with Postman
- Automated testing experience with Cucumber or Selenium or similar.
- Experience with qTest test at an enterprise platform level
- Experience testing web applications in an AWS environment
- Any QA certifications such as CTFL or CSTE or others would be ideal.
You should be able to work in what at times can be a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. You should be detail oriented and very organized and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This is a full-time position that the ideal candidate would have a clear path to the Lead role.
