Cisco VoIP Deployment Technician
We are seeking an experienced Onsite Cisco VoIP Deployment Technician to support a large-scale telephony migration within a healthcare environment. This project involves transitioning legacy ATOS Unify telephony systems to a centralized Cisco platform across multiple clinical and administrative locations. The technician will play a hands-on field role supporting phone deployments, analog gateway installations, testing, troubleshooting, inventory coordination, and user-facing support.
This is not a network engineering or configuration role. The ideal candidate is a strong field technician with hands-on Cisco phone deployment experience, comfort working in hospital environments, and the ability to interact professionally with both technical and non-technical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy approximately 600 Cisco phones in phased rollouts across multiple healthcare locations, including the Hospital, ACP, ASC, Technology Park, and Pre-op outpatient testing areas.
- Perform onsite pre-surveys of workspaces and IDFs, review floor plans, and coordinate closely with client engineers and UC team members before and during deployments.
- Unbox, assemble, stage, install, activate, test, and document Cisco phone deployments.
- Replace legacy cabling as needed and ensure all cable management is clean, organized, and compliant with site expectations.
- Connect headsets and support end users with basic phone-related questions during deployments.
- Rack and install Cisco analog gateway equipment across the same sites, including both rack-mounted and some wallboard-mounted equipment.
- Work within 56 IDFs supporting approximately 1,600 analog lines and gateways, including environments using 66 and 110 wiring blocks.
- Test, identify, and troubleshoot analog lines supporting fax machines, panic alarms, and clinical monitoring devices.
- Assist with power failure phone analog migration activities, including replacement, retesting, documentation, and coordination with engineers.
- Return to migrated sites as needed to troubleshoot phones, analog gateways, and related issues under the direction of the UC manager or engineer.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deployment status, phone status, line testing, and issue resolution throughout the project.
- Manage onsite inventory for deployed and recovered PBX, phone, and gateway equipment, and notify management when stock levels are running low.
- Perform manual Cisco phone firmware upgrades using provided instructions and guidance.
- Attend project meetings, UC meetings, and internal client meetings as requested.
