The PMO Lead is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving the Project Management Office (PMO) for a mid-sized technology solutions provider. This role ensures the consistent delivery of customer projects while driving project governance, resource optimization, operational excellence, financial performance, and customer satisfaction.

Working across Professional Services, Sales, Engineering, Customer Success, and Managed Services, the PMO Lead provides leadership to Project Managers and Project Coordinators while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities

PMO Leadership

  • Develop and execute the PMO strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Define project governance standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Standardize project delivery processes across all technology practices.
  • Build a culture focused on execution excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead regular PMO operational reviews and executive reporting.
 

Project Delivery

Provide oversight for all customer-facing delivery engagements including:

  • Infrastructure deployments
  • Data center modernization
  • Cloud migrations
  • Networking implementations
  • Security projects
  • Managed services onboarding
  • Professional services consulting engagements
  • Merger & acquisition integration projects
  • Multi-site rollout programs

Responsibilities include:

Financial Management

Own the operational financial performance of the PMO including:

  • Services revenue forecasting

  • Change order governance
  • Revenue recognition support

Partner closely with Finance to ensure accurate project forecasting and reporting.

 

Resource Management

Lead enterprise resource planning across Professional Services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contractor management
  • Escalation management

Collaborate with Practice Managers to ensure the right technical resources are assigned to projects.

  • Hiring and onboarding project management staff
  • Conducting performance reviews

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Agile certification preferred
  • ITIL Foundation preferred
 

Experience

  • 10+ years of project management experience
  • 5+ years leading a PMO or project management team
  • Experience within a technology VAR, systems integrator, MSP, or consulting organization
  • Experience managing complex multi-million-dollar customer programs
  • Proven leadership of cross-functional delivery organizations
