Level 3 Telecommunications Engineer – Avaya

Healthcare Systems Migration | Nationwide Travel

We are seeking a highly experienced Level 3 Telecommunications Engineer with deep Avaya expertise to support a large, nationwide hospital migration from legacy phone systems. This is a long-term, travel-heavy engagement focused on on-site assessments, validation, and documentation across hospital campuses throughout the U.S.

Each hospital location will require 1–2 weeks onsite. All travel time and expenses are paid. This role is ideal for a senior, field-oriented engineer who is comfortable in active healthcare environments and has hands-on experience with enterprise telephony systems.

Role Overview

You will serve as a senior field resource supporting pre-migration site surveys and infrastructure validation for hospital telephony environments. This work is physically active and detail-driven, requiring full days on hospital campuses documenting existing systems, identifying risks, and communicating findings to the project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site telecommunications surveys across hospital campuses

  • Document existing Avaya and legacy telephony environments, including:

    • Phone set models and device types

    • Station locations and workstation configurations

    • Wall jacks, patching, and associated infrastructure

    • Ancillary or undocumented equipment

  • Identify and flag:

    • Inconsistencies between documentation and reality

    • Infrastructure gaps or risks that may impact migration

  • Accurately capture findings using provided templates and tools

  • Communicate discoveries, concerns, or anomalies clearly to the project lead

  • Maintain professionalism and awareness in active healthcare settings

Required Experience

  • Senior-level experience supporting Avaya telephony systems in enterprise or healthcare environments

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Legacy PBX and hybrid phone systems

    • Station provisioning and endpoint identification

    • Cross-connects, frames, and related infrastructure

  • Prior experience performing site surveys or infrastructure documentation

  • Comfortable working in environments with limited or outdated documentation

Physical Requirements

  • On your feet for full workdays, walking hospital floors and campuses

  • Able to sustain physically active work for consecutive days

  • Comfortable bending, reaching, and accessing workstations, closets, and telecom rooms

Schedule & Travel

  • Nationwide travel required

  • Each site typically requires 1–2 weeks onsite

  • Standard schedule is Monday–Friday

  • Extended days may be required depending on site conditions and progress

  • Schedule adjustments may be identified mid-week as needed
