Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician Level V performs highly skilled mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks in an industrial processing environment. This role requires advanced troubleshooting abilities, strong technical knowledge, and the capability to lead complex repairs with minimal supervision. The technician is expected to work across multiple systems, support equipment installations, and contribute to long‑term reliability improvements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform advanced preventive maintenance, including detailed inspections, adjustments, lubrication, and system performance checks.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment, utilities, and support systems.
- Lead major mechanical repairs, including disassembly, component replacement, rebuilds, and reassembly to manufacturer specifications.
- Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including valves, cylinders, regulators, and control components.
- Perform advanced mechanical alignments using precision tools such as dial indicators, laser alignment systems, and micrometers.
- Conduct electrical support tasks such as identifying faulty sensors, switches, relays, and low‑voltage control devices (non‑energized troubleshooting).
- Work with PLC I/O devices to identify input/output failures and assist electricians with system diagnostics.
- Perform calibrations on equipment such as scales, sensors, temperature devices, and mechanical systems.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications, including mounting, alignment, and system integration.
- Identify root causes of recurring failures and recommend long‑term corrective actions or reliability improvements.
- Document all maintenance activities, parts usage, and findings in the CMMS system.
- Provide guidance and technical support to Levels I–IV technicians.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and maintenance team members.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 4+ years of mechanical or industrial maintenance experience required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring devices.
- Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and lead complex repairs independently.
- Strong communication, documentation, and leadership support skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and support lower‑level technicians.
Certifications & Licenses
- Forklift Certification (preferred)
- Lockout/Tagout training (required after hire)

- Torque wrenches, pullers, alignment tools, dial indicators, laser alignment tools
- Pneumatic and hydraulic testing tools
- Basic electrical testing tools (continuity testers, multimeters for non‑energized checks)

Work Environment
Work is performed in a cold, wet, and noisy industrial processing facility. Exposure to moving machinery, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures is expected.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs frequently
- Stand and walk for up to 10 hours
- Bend, kneel, climb, and reach regularly
- Work in cold, wet, or humid conditions
- Work on elevated platforms or in confined spaces as needed
Schedule & Overtime
Day and night shift availability as listed; overtime, weekends, and extended hours may be required based on production needs.
