Respiratory Therapist
Compensation: $29 to $40/hour + 25K SOB + Shift Differential
Job Type: Full-Time, 36 hrs/week | Every 3rd weekend rotation | 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
A community-focused hospital in Ohio is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join their Respiratory Care Services team on the night shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments across all patient age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric populations
- Set up, manage, and monitor mechanical ventilators, including all associated critical care duties (airway management, tracheal suctioning)
- Perform emergency intubation and airway management for patients of all ages
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment; monitor for potential side effects
- Perform arterial punctures for blood gas analysis; understand associated complications and contraindications
- Perform EKGs and transmit reports to ordering and attending physicians per department protocol
- Inspect, test, and safely operate all respiratory therapy equipment to ensure proper function
- Assess patient status, tolerance for treatment, and response; reassess and adjust care plans accordingly
- Document all pertinent data in the PCN following completion of services
- Develop patient and family teaching plans based on identified learning needs; evaluate learning effectiveness
- Participate in on-call rotation and every 3rd weekend rotation
- Participate in staff meetings, educational programs, QI activities, committees, and mandatory in-services
- Demonstrate initiative in personal and professional development; present a professional image at all times
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy
- NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), licensed by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board
- Current, active State of Ohio Respiratory Therapist License (required)
- BLS certified; ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
- Successful completion of Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- 3+ years of experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services preferred
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and documentation skills
- Physical stamina for an active clinical environment: walking, bending, stooping, and lifting up to ~50 lbs
